Choose The InstallationFor Joomla 1.5.x version install Joomla plugin using plg_gtranslate.zip . For Joomla 1.6.x , 1.7.x and higher versions install Joomla plugin using plg_gtranslate-1.7.zip. For other websites including Joomla 1.0.x, WordPress, Drupal, Magento and all Joomla versions in the subdirectory you need to install GTranslate Pro General version. NOTE: Please DO NOT install both the Joomla plugin version and the General version at the same time. GTranslate Pro Joomla Plugin installationCheck The System RequirementsPlease check the system requirements before installing and activating the plugin. To see the PHP information log in to the Joomla Administrator panel, click Help > System Info > PHP Information Server requirements:
NOTE: Please do not activate the GTranslate Pro plugin if PHP ionCube Loader is not installed on your server. Download the latest version of the GTranslate package gtranslate_yourdomain.com.zip which was sent by e-mail and unzip it locally. Navigate to the Joomla admin area.
Click Extension > Extension Manager (or Install/Uninstall) in the top menu.
Click Browse in the upload package section.
Upload the extension in zip format and click the Upload File & Install button. If the installation is successful, a confirmation message will be displayed.
After you install the extension please go to Extensions > Plugin Manager. From the system plugins list locate the GTranslate plugin and click "enable" icon next to it. This will activate the plugin.
In the Plugin Manager page click on the GTranslate plugin in the table to open the configuration page to change settings. Select Site Language.
If you have an API key you can place it. This is an optional feature. GTranslate Pro works without API Key. Set the cache time in days (365 days by default). SSL verify Pear – you can disable this option if you get CA certificate error and cannot reconfigure your server to solve the issue. Detect Main Language -set to yes if you have mixed language content Detect User Language - set to yes if you want to auto detect user predefined language Debug Mode – enable the debug mode if you have any problems Save settings and close . Go to the Joomla Global Configuration page
Enable Search Engine Friendly URLs and set Use URL rewriting to Yes (please rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess before activating) .
Connect to your hosting server using an FTP client.
Go to plugins/system/gtranslate/gtranslate (or /plugins/system/gtranslate for joomla 1.5.x versions) directory and set /gtranslate/cache and /gtranslate/cache/XX folders permissions to 777. DON'T change other files/folders permissions.
Go to the root directory Make sure that you have .htaccess file in the root directory. If you don’t have this file rename “htaccess.txt” to “.htaccess” . Create robots.txt and upload it to the root directory. Create sitemap.txt and upload it to the root directory. Download and install GTranslate Free module and use Redirect translation method with 'Operate with GTranslate Pro' option On. This will enable the language Gtranslate Pro General InstallationDownload the latest version of the GTranslate package gtranslate_yourdomain.com.zip which was sent by e-mail and unzip it locally. Connecting to your hosting server using an FTP client. Upload gtranslate folder to your www root (public_html or httpdocs) directory. If you are using FTP set transfer type to BINARY it's IMPORTANT! To see the PHP information upload info.php to the /gtranslate directory and access it by http://domain.com/gtranslate/info.php Server requirements:
Set /gtranslate/cache and /gtranslate/cache/XX folders permissions to 777. DON'T change other files/folders permissions.
Add this lines AFTER (next to) RewriteEngine On line in the .htaccess file. Make sure the file name is .htaccess not htaccess or htaccess.txt. Modify robots.txt or create it if you don’t have. Add this line on the end of the file (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name). You can have more than one sitemap. Create robots.txt and upload it to the root directory. Create sitemap.txt and upload it to the root directory. Download and install GTranslate Free for your CMS/HTML website and use Redirect translation method with 'Operate with GTranslate Pro' option On. This will enable the language selector. Create robots.txt FileModify robots.txt or create it if you don’t have. Add this line on the end of the file (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name). You can have more than one sitemap. Sitemap: http://yourdomain.com/sitemap.txt Create SitemapCreate sitemap.txt in the root directory with the following contents (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name). You can remove the languages you don't want to be indexed to save translation traffic. You can provide here more deep sitemap, one link per line. If you already have sitemap.txt you can append it.

Editing TranslationsIn order to edit the translations you need to go to the language you want to edit and then add ?language_edit=1 to the URL. If you already have ? in the URL you need to add &language_edit=1 to the URL. You will then see the editing tools:
To edit the translations you need to click the edit button (a small pencil). The edit translation window will appear:

Uninstalling GTranslate ProFor GTranslate Pro Joomla plugin version1. Login to Joomla backend. 2. Click Extension > Extension Manager (or Install/Uninstall for Joomla 1.5.x) in the top menu. 3. Click Manage (or Plugins for Joomla 1.5.x) then Select System-Gtranslate and click the Uninstall button at the top right menu. 4. Open robots.txt file and remove the following line Sitemap: http://yourdomain.com/sitemap.txt 5. Delete sitemap.txt file from the root directory. For Gtranslate Pro General version(WordPress, Drupal, Magento and all Joomla versions in the subdirectory)1. Login to server with FTP or Cpanel. 2. In the root directory find gtranslate folder and delete it. 3. Open .htaccess file and remove # gtranslate config lines. 4. Open robots.txt file and remove the following line Sitemap: http://yourdomain.com/sitemap.txt 5. Delete sitemap.txt file from the root directory. FAQ |
